



Cedar Rapids, Iowa - March 6, 2010 - Freshman Joe Grippi lost his opening match in the second day of the 2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Saturday morning to be eliminated from competition. Grippi was pinned by Aljamain Sterling from SUNY Cortland in 2:48 as he lost for the second time in the national event.
In his first season with the Pride, Grippi finished his tremendous freshman season with a 23-4 record.
Originally seeded eighth in the 133 pound classification, Grippi's losses in the tournament came to the eventual third and fourth-place finishers, respectively. William Livingston of Centenary, who upset Grippi in the opening round, went on to finish third while Sterling took fourth overall.
Top-seeded Bebeto Yewah from UW La Crosse breezed through the competition to claim the 133-pound national championship.
Jason Holder will enter his first season as head wrestling coach in 2011. After spending the last four seasons as the Pride's assistant coach, Holder takes over a program fresh off its 10th NEWA Conference Championship.
