



Springfield, Mass. - May 2, 2010 - The Springfield College athletics department celebrated another successful year as it recognized its most outstanding performances and student athletes at its 2010 Annual Sports Recognition Night held Sunday evening on campus in Blake Arena.The emcee for the evening was Dr. Charlie Redmond, the Faculty Athletic Representative and dean of the college’s School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.
The men's volleyball team had the most student athletes recognized on the evening as four were honored for helping lead the Pride to its sixth national championship, while women's track and field had three recipients after another standout year. Highlighting the award winners was senior Nikki Hay, who won the NCAA Indoor National Championship in the triple jump during the winter.
The program concluded with Associate Athletic Director Dr. Kelly Hart awarding the women's volleyball team with the Pride Challenge Award, an award that recognizes the Springfield College varsity team that excels the most in community outreach, team enhancement, academics, PAAC communication, team goals, and supporting fellow student athletes.
