



Springfield, Mass.- November 11, 2009 - Springfield College senior co-captain Morgan Rein has been selected to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Senior All-Star Game scheduled for Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Mount Holyoke College. Rein, a native of Mystic, Conn., enjoyed a breakout senior season as she moved from midfield to forward for the Pride. Rein finished the season with a team-best 36 points as she tied for the team-lead in goals with 11 and led the offense with 14 assists. She recorded five game-winning goals and finished the year as the league leader in assists per game with .67.
In addition to being chosen for the NFHCA All-Star team, Rein was selected to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference First Team.
Rein and the Springfield College field hockey team won five straight games at the end of the season until the Engineers of MIT ended its streak in the NEWMAC Championship game. The Pride finished their season with a 12-9 overall record.
The NFHCA All-Star game is scheduled to be played on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Mount Holyoke College (South Hadley, MA). Game time is 9:30 a.m
After seven years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 115-44 record, good for a winning percentage of .723 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
