Women's Track & Field Finishes 21st At ECAC Championships

BRUNSWICK, Maine, March 8, 2004 – Springfield College senior
Pawel Jaroszewicz (East Longmeadow, Mass.) won the 400-meter dash and ran legs on the winning 4x200 and 4x400-meter relay teams as the Pride finished third out of 36 scoring teams at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships on Saturday (Mar. 6) held at Bowdoin College.
Jaroszewicz’s winning time in the 400 was 48.43. He then joined sophomore
Billy King (Wilmington, Mass.), sophomore
Chris Keyser (West Newbury, Mass.) and senior
Art Fredericks (Wallingford, Conn.), to win the 4x200 in a time of 1:30.76. SC’s 4x400 relay team, made up of freshman
Dave Forrette (Chicopee, Mass.), Fredericks, King, and Jaroszewicz, took first place in 3:18.61.
SC freshman
Tetsuji Kambera (Osaka, Japan) finished third in the 3,000-meter run with an 8:44.82 time.
In the field events, junior
Justin Welch (Woburn, Mass.) finished second in the high jump (6 feet, 8 ¼ inches), and junior
Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.) took second in the shot put (52 feet, 1 inch).
On the women’s side, SC sophomore
Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, N.H.) finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (59.86) as the Pride finished 21st out of 38 scoring teams.
In the field events, freshman
Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) put up a fourth-place finish in the weight throw (49 feet, ¼ inch), and a sixth-place performance in the shot put (41 feet, 6 ½ inches).

Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
