Men's Gymnastics Defeats Southern Conn.
NEW HAVEN, Conn., February 14, 2004 – Springfield College senior Tim Goetz (South Plainfield, N.J.) won the vault with a score of 9.1 as the Pride defeated host Southern Connecticut, 198.600-192.100, on Saturday,
Goetz placed second in three other events during the meet; the all-around competition (49.65), the pommel horse (8.3), and the rings (8.5).
Other winners for the Pride included sophomore Aric Hines (Greensboro, N.C.), who won the floor exercise with a 8.50 score; sophomore Shawn Fournier (Lewiston, Maine), who won the pommel horse (8.65), and junior Nelson Jiminez (Salem, N.H.), who took the parallel bars (8.4).
The Pride, which moves to 4-5 on the season, will be at Temple with MIT in a tri-meet on Saturday, February 21.
