SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 17, 2004 – Springfield College senior All-American
Pawel Jarosczewicz (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished first in the 200-meter dash 22.17 and anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay (3:23.07) to lead the Pride in the Vern Cox invitational on Blake Track. The meet was non-scoring.
In the field events, freshman
Chris Allen (Sandwich, Mass.) was victorious in the high jump (6 feet, 6 inches), junior
Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn) finished first in the long jump (22 feet, 4 ½ inches), junior
Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.) won the shot put (48 feet, 5 ¼ inches), and senior
Jason Mandolesi (Wilbraham, Mass.) took first in the discus (139 feet, 8 inches) for Springfield.
In the running events, freshman
Dave Forrette (Chicopee, Mass.) took top honors in the 400-meter dash (49.37), while senior
Brian Pearsall (Fairport, N.Y.) ran to victory in the 800-meter run (2:00.24).
On the women’s side, senior
Leyla Williams (Unionville, N.Y.) finished first in the hammer throw (151 feet, 2 inches), junior
Leah Sullivan (Northboro, Mass.) took top honors in the shot put (40 feet, 9 ¾ inches), and sophomore
Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) placed first in the javelin (121 feet, 3 inches) in the field events.
Sophomore
Megan Young (Hurley, N.Y.) ran to victory in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:27.10), sophomore
Yasmin Goris (Worcester, Mass.) placed first in the 100-meter dash (13.07) and sophomore
Sarah Tyman (West Suffield, Conn.) was victorious in the 800-meter run (2:27.62) for SC on the track.
