Women's Volleyball Wins Johnson & Wales Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Springfield College sophomore Alesia Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) was named tournament MVP after tallying 38 assists in the Pride’s championship-match victory over Bridgewater State, 3-0 (30-25, 30-18, 30-14), in the Johnson & Wales Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) was credited with 23 kills in the championship match, one short of the school record for a three game match. Reves collected a career-high 24 kills in Springfield’s four game win over Eastern Nazarene (21-30, 30-20, 30-21, 30-22). That sent the Pride to the championship match.

Springfield was undefeated in the two-day event and remains undefeated for the season (8-0).

Joel Dearing Joel Dearing will enter his 22nd season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2010. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it.
