George Mason To Much For No. 3 Men's Volleyball

FAIRFAX, Va. - March 28, 2005 - Even though Springfield College senior middle blocker Matt Smith (Midlothian, Va.) totaled eight kills on nine swings for a .889 hitting percentage the Pride still fell to EIVA-Tait foe George Mason University last Saturday in Fairfax, Va., 3-0 (30-20, 30-19, 30-26).

Senior libero Eduardo Stawinski (San Juan, Puerto Rico) was credited with six digs and stands only one away from the record set by Greg Lardo ’03 of 719 digs.

The loss drops Springfield to 6-11, 2-7 EIVA-Tait, while the Patriots improve to 15-7, 7-2.

The Pride travel to NYU tomorrow for a 7 p.m. match up with the Violets, the match is a make up of snowed-out contest from earlier this season.

The Pride return to Blake Arena Friday night (April 1) as they take on the defending Division III National Champion Golden Eagles of Juniata College at 7 p.m. Springfield will play Rutgers-Newark Saturday night (April 2) in its final regular season home match at 7 p.m.
