Brandon Mueller (Bartlett, Ill.) the Pride still fell in a five-game marathon to Rutgers-Newark, 3-2 (22-30, 18-30, 30-25, 30-25, 17-15), on Senior night, in men’s volleyball action tonight in Blake Arena.
Senior middle blockers
Ricky Albano (Spencerport, N.Y.) and
Matt Smith (Midlothian, Va.) also had strong performances for SC, with 18 and 14 kills, respectively.
The Scarlet Raiders were paced by junior outside hitter
Brian Honsberger (Lancaster, N.Y.), 21 kills, and junior middle blocker
Henry Richardson (Lewiston, N.Y.), 15 kills.
The loss dropped Springfield to 6-13, 2-9 EIVA-Tait, while Rutgers-Newark improved to 9-11, 6-4 EIVA Tait on the season.
The Pride will return to action next weekend (April 8-9) in the EIVA Division III championships that will be hosted by Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa.
