Baseball Stuns No. 4 Trinity, 6-5
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 18, 2005 – Springfield College junior third basemen Matt Basteri (Melrose, Mass.) went 1-for-3 and ripped a two-run triple in the fifth inning to propel the Pride over No. 4 Trinity College, 6-5, in baseball action played on Berry-Allen Field.
Pride senior Kevin Davidson (Claremont, N.H.) picked up his third win of the season, scattering nine hits and striking out four in five innings of work. Junior Carl Longo (Manchester, N.H.) yielded only one run and four hits in four innings of relief to earn his second save of the season.
SC (11-13) sophomore designated hitter Jeff Hewes (Groton, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with a RBI, while junior left fielder Scott Samolewicz (Florence, Mass.) was productive in the leadoff spot going 2-for-3 with two walks and a RBI.
The Bantams were led by senior third basemen Jeff Natale who went 4-for-5 with two RBI, while sophomore first basemen Ben Silvanic went 2-for-5 registering two RBI.
The Pride hosts Wesleyan University on Tuesday (April 19) at Berry-Allen Field at 3:30 pm.
