Baseball Downs Elms, 24-4

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 7, 2005 – Springfield College senior first basemen John Beattie (Springfield, Mass) went 6-for-6, including two homeruns, lifting the Pride over Elms College, 24-4, in baseball action this afternoon at Berry-Allen Field.

SC junior centerfielder Anthony Gorneault (Springfield, Mass) finished 4-for-6 with four runs scored and six RBI for the Pride, which snapped a seven game losing streak.

Senior Kevin Davidson (Claremont, N.H.) picked up his second win on the year, yielding three hits and striking out nine in five innings of work.

The Blazers were led by freshmen third basemen Mike Zenkert, who was 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBI, while freshmen outfielder Jim Drummond also had a homerun and two RBI for Elms (1-6).

Springfield College will play host to Western New England College at 3:00 pm on Friday, (April 8).
