Westfield State Defeats Baseball, 10-3
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 4, 2005 –Springfield College sophomore Adam Tarquini (Fishkill, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored, but the Pride fell, 10-3, to Westfield State in baseball action this afternoon at Berry-Allen Field.
The Pride (5-8) scored in the bottom of the sixth inning when sophomore designated hitter Jeff Hewes (Groton, Conn.) ripped an RBI triple, plating Tarquini and cutting the lead to 5-3.
The Owls (6-8) received a strong pitching performance from junior JP Murphy who posted eight strong innings, scattering eight hits and three runs scored. The Owls erupted for five runs in the ninth inning, including a three-run blast by sophomore catcher Chris Herbert putting the Owls up 8-3.
The Pride travels to Williams College on Wednesday, April 6, with a start time of 4:15
