Baseball Falls To No. 13 Eastern Connecticut, 14-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 13 2005 – Springfield College junior right fielder James Miner (Metheun, Mass.) went 1-for-4 with a RBI single, but the Pride fell to No. 13 Eastern Connecticut, 14-2, in baseball action played on Berry-Allen Field.

SC junior second basemen Steve Hunt (West Hartford, Conn.) ripped an RBI single in the fifth inning, while senior outfielder Matt Basteri (Melrose, Mass.) went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

The Warriors were led by junior second basemen Zach Mehrbach who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Freshmen Trey Bongiovanni pitched six innings and gave up five hits, while recording two strikeouts in his third win of the season.

The Pride (8-13) hosts conference-rival Babson College on Saturday (April 16) at Berry-Allen Field starting at 12:00 pm in a doubleheader.
