Baseball Falls To WPI, 7-4, On Tuesday
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. April 6, 2004 – Springfield College sophomore catcher Adam Tarquini (Fishkill, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 including a two RBI double but WPI defeated the Pride, 7-4, this afternoon in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) baseball game at Berry-Allen Field.
WPI (9-12, 2-3 NEWMAC) sophomore second baseman Nick Angelini (Braintree, Maine) went 3-for-5, including two doubles, and scored two runs. Sophomore third baseman Steve Taylor (Temple, N.H.) chipped in by going 3-for-4 including a single to start off a three-run eighth inning for WPI.
Senior left-hander Jay Derry (Charlton, Mass.) pitched seven innings to earn his second win of the season. He allowed four hits and three earned runs. Sophomore Craig Shelvin (S. Hadley, Mass.) hurled two innings of one hit relief.
SC (3-5, 3-4 NEWMAC) takes the diamond again Thursday, April 8, against Coast Guard, in New London, Conn.
