Sophomore pitcher Kim Jeffs (Stoughton, Mass.) earned MVP honors for the tournament. Jeffs started four of five games for the Panthers recording 53 strikeouts and finishing with a 3-1 record and 0.87 earned run average.

The second game featured a pitcher’s duel between Springfield’s sophomore ace Brianne Pearson (Brockton, Mass.) and Plymouth State freshman hurler Rose Eaton (Concord, N.H.). Eaton tossed her first shutout of the season scattering four hits over seven innings with four strikeouts. Pearson threw her 26th complete game of the season and picked up only her sixth loss of the spring when the Panthers manufactured a run in the fifth off a pair of costly errors by the Pride.

The Panthers received another dominating pitching performance from tournament MVP Kim Jeffs, who totaled 11 strikeouts on her way to a one run, five hit outing.
Plymouth State broke the game open in the third inning when junior right fielder Maria Curran (Scarborough, Maine) smashed solo home run down the left field line. The Panthers were then able to capitalize on a pair of SC errors to extend their lead to 3-0.
SC sophomore right fielder Laurie Cersosimo (W. Hartford, Conn.) scored on sophomore catcher Missy Edwards’ (Calverton, N.Y.) triple to centerfield in the bottom of the third. That would be the only offense the Pride would be able to generate as Plymouth added as the Panthers added two in the fifth and three in the sixth on a three-run homer from junior shortstop Michelle Knox (Gilmanton, N.H.).
