BABSON PARK, Mass., April 18, 2003- Springfield College All-American senior first baseman Ali Gerrish (Plymouth, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with a home run and scored twice as the Pride beat Babson, 7-2, in the first game of a doubleheader in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play this afternoon.
In game two, sophomore Amy Brucker (Westerly, R.I.) fired a four-hit shutout and Gerrish had two hits and drove in both runs as SC completed the sweep with a 2-0 win. The shutout was Brucker’s fifth of the season.
The first-place Pride improved its conference mark to 12-0. SC won its 12th consecutive game, the Pride’s longest winning since it opened the 1996 season with 15 consecutive wins.
In the first game, SC sophomore hurler Brianne Pearson (Brockton, Mass.) allowed six hits and no earned runs to improve to 13-2. It was Pearson’s ninth consecutive win.

Julie Perrelli was been named an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Head Softball Coach at Springfield College in June of 2009. The head softball coach at Smith for the past three years, Perrelli received both her doctorate (this past May) and her masters in 2004 from Springfield College, where she served as a graduate assistant for the Pride from the 2003 through 2006 seasons.
