Softball Takes Two From Bridgewater State, 3-1, 4-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 13, 2005 – Springfield College senior catcher Missy Edwards (Calverton, N.Y.) hit a game-winning homerun and senior outfielder Laurie Cersosimo (West Hartford, Conn.) had a game-winning RBI double, as the Pride swept a doubleheader against Bridgewater State, 3-1, 4-2, today at Potter Field,.
Junior designated player Amanda Johannson (Leominster, Mass.) hit a homerun in her third- consecutive game. Her solo shot in the fourth inning gave SC a 1-0 lead. The Bears tied the game in the next inning, before Edwards sealed the game with her two-run homer in the sixth.
Senior captain Amy Brucker (Westerly, R.I.) picked up her eighth victory on the season by throwing a complete game and allowing just one earned run.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Cersosimo was 2-for-3 including the game-winning hit in the sixth inning to lead the Pride to victory.
Bridgewater State infielder Danielle Trull-Donahue (Norfolk, Mass.), who was 2-for-2 in the game, gave the Bears a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the third.
SC took a 2-1 lead in the fourth off RBI hits from junior Keir Stanford (Melrose, Mass.) and senior captain Carrie Boyce (New Britain, Conn.)
SC will host WPI this Saturday, April 16 at Potter Field, in a doubleheader beginning at 12 pm.
