Softball Swept At Babson
BABSON, Mass., April 22, 2005 – Springfield College senior Amy Brucker (Westerly, R.I.) tossed a complete game and allowed just one earned-run, but the Pride fell 4-1 in the first game of a doubleheader at Babson. The Beavers also won the second game, 9-1.
Brucker went 1-for-2 at the plate, but Babson junior Meg Gaskell threw a complete-game two-hitter, allowing just one earned run. The one earned run scored by SC snapped Gaskell’s 29-inning scoreless streak, which dated back to April 9.
An RBI groundout by senior catcher Missy Edwards (Calverton, N.Y.) gave SC an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. The Beavers responded by scoring three runs in the third, capped by a two-run single by freshman Jess Cohen.
Freshman Stacy Schlicht also rendered just two hits to the Pride lineup, as she picked up her eighth victory of the season by tossing a complete game and allowed no earned runs.
