Dielemans No-Hitter Leads Softball To Split at Eastern Conn.

Game 1: ECSU 5, SC 2

Game 2: SC 5, ECSU 1

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - Springfield College senior Brittany Dielemans (Middlebury, Conn.) threw a no-hitter to lead SC to a split in a softball double-header at Eastern Connecticut State, Wednesday. The Pride fell, 5-2, in the first game, before shutting down the Warriors, 5-1, in the nightcap.

Dielemans struck out five without yielding a walk to pick up her first victory of the spring as a pair of SC (5-6) errors allowed the only ECSU (2-8) run of the game, unearned, in the fourth inning.

SC broke a 1-1 game open In the seventh inning as senior outfielder Laurie Cersosimo (West Hartford, Conn.) hit a two-out opposite field double that scored two runs, followed by a bloop single by junior shortstop Caitlin McGaughey (South Windsor, Conn.) that plated two more to make the score, 5-1.

In game one, SC senior outfielder Lori Baumann (Pittsfield, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while junior firstbasman Keir Stanford (Melrose, Mass.) went 1-for-3 with a run scored with a RBI, but a five-run second inning by ECSU led the hosts to the 5-2 victory.
