Softball Defeats Allegheny, 2-0, Falls To Augsburg, 6-5, At Rebel Games

GAME 1 - Springfield 2, Allegheny 0

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Springfield College sophomore pitcher Brianne Pearson (Brockton, Mass.) threw a complete game shutout, yielding five hits and striking out four, and hit a two-RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to lead the Pride to a 2-0 win over Allegheny College at the Rebel Games.

Pearson knocked in senior second baseman Nicole Coromato (Utica, N.Y.) and sophomore right-fielder Lori Cersosimo (West Hartford, Conn.) with a hit to right field to lead SC to a 5-0 record this spring.

GAME 2 - Augsburg 6, Springfield 5 (10 inn.)

Springfield College senior All-American first baseman Ali Gerrish (Plymouth, Mass.) went 2-for4 with three RBI, but Augsburg outlasted the Pride, 6-5, in 10 innings at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Florida. This was SC's first loss of the spring (5-1).

Julie Perrelli Julie Perrelli was been named an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Head Softball Coach at Springfield College in June of 2009. The head softball coach at Smith for the past three years, Perrelli received both her doctorate (this past May) and her masters in 2004 from Springfield College, where she served as a graduate assistant for the Pride from the 2003 through 2006 seasons.
