No. 1 Men's Volleyball Opens Season With 3-0 Sweep Of Endicott

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., January 23, 2004 – Springfield College junior swing hitter
Brandon Mueller (Bartlett, Ill.) totaled 19 points (16 kills, 2 service aces, 3 block assists) to lead the three-time defending national champion Pride to a 3-0 (30-14, 30-20, 30-16) sweep of Endicott College in its first match of the season this evening in Blake Arena.
Mueller also compiled a .448 hitting percentage for Springfield, ranked No. 1 in the first AVCA Division III poll of the season (Jan. 20).
Senior setter
Mark Schlabach (Clarence, N.Y.) totaled 30 assists for SC, which limited the Gulls (0-5) to a -.015 hitting percentage on the evening.
Springfield (1-0) won its unprecedented third-straight Division III national championship and fourth overall last season. The Pride also won the inaugural Division III title in 1997.
