No. 1 Volleyball Too Much For No. 11 Vassar, 3-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., February 10, 2004 – Springfield College junior swing hitter Brandon Mueller (Bartlett, Ill.) totaled 13.5 points (12 kills, 3 block assists) in only two games to lead the Pride to the 3-0 (30-21, 30-17, 30-23) sweep of No. 11 Vassar this evening in Blake Arena.

Freshman setter Robert Soris (Niskyuna, N.Y.) added 58 assists for Springfield (3-2), ranked atop the latest AVCA Division III poll, released today.

Junior middle blocker Ricky Albano (Spencerport, N.Y.) was credited with 11 points (7 kills, solo block, 6 block assists) for the Pride, the three-time defending Division III National Champions.

Vassar (2-5), was led by sophomore outside hitter Matt Bninski (Aiea, Hawaii) and his match-high 14 points (12 kills, 2 solo blocks).

Springfield returns to action Friday (Feb. 13) when it travels to Division I Rutgers-Newark for a 7:00 match. SC hosts George Mason on Saturday (Feb. 14) at 4:30 p.m., and Division III No. 2 Juniata on Monday (Feb. 16) at 2:00 p.m. All three matches are EIVA-Tait Division contests.
