SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 26, 2004 – Despite a match-high 36 kills by Springfield College junior swing hitter
Brandon Mueller (Bartlett, Ill.), No. 4 New York University slipped by the No. 3 Pride, 3-2 (23-30, 30-26, 27-30, 30-28, 15-9), in men’s volleyball action this evening in Blake Arena.
NYU senior opposite
Evan Finch (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was credited with a team-high 15 kills to go along with nine digs, while sophomore middle blocker
Chris Schmidt (Newbury Park, Calif.) chipped in 10 kills and 11 blocks for the Violets (17-5).
Mueller, who also added 10 digs for SC (6-13), came one kill short of his career-high 37, totaled earlier in the season versus Division I Ball State on February 1.
Springfield senior
Clay Spiegel (San Diego, Calif) compiled 17 kills and 10 digs, senior
Mark Schlabach (Clarence, N.Y.) totaled 73 assists and eight digs, and senior
Chris Hosley (Nassau, N.Y.) tallied 14 kills and nine digs in their final home match at SC.
