Men's Volleyball loses pair in EIVA Tait
Loretto, Pa. – Feb., 29. 2004 - Springfield College junior swing hitter Brandon Mueller (Bartlett, Ill) collected 20 points (18 kills, four block assists), but St. Francis (Pa.) rallied from a 1-2 deficit to top SC this evening in an EIVA Tait match-up, 3-2 (22-30, 30-24, 25-30, 30-20, 15-11).
Freshman middle blocker Nick Beer (Clovis, Calif.) added 14 points (nine kills, one solo block, six block assists) for SC (4-8, 2-5 EIVA Tait Division). Junior libero Eduardo Stawinski (San Juan, Puerto Rico) was credited with 16 digs for Springfield, which is ranked No. 2 in the latest AVCA Div. III Coaches Poll.
In EIVA Tait action earlier in the weekend, Springfield traveled to George Mason on Saturday (Feb. 28) and was topped by the Patriots, 3-0 (30-23, 30-24, 30-20). Senior opposite Clay Spiegel (San Diego, Calif.) paced SC with 10 points (seven kills, three service aces).
The Pride returns to action this weekend hosting the Princeton Tigers on Saturday (Feb. 6) in an EIVA Tait Division match at Blake Arena at 7:00 p.m.
