SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 12, 2003 – Springfield College senior forward Amy Bartholomew (Enfield, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal a mere 2:24 into the first half to lead the second-seeded Pride to a 3-0 victory over No. 7 Endicott College in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Field Hockey Tournament this evening at Benedum Field.

The Pride (15-9) will host No. 3 Babson (18-4) in the ECAC semifinals on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Benedum Field.

Bartholomew’s goal was her first of the season.

Later in the opening frame, senior back Maylese Leyva (Harwich, Mass.) found the cage with her fifth goal of the season. SC senior midfielder Brianne Tompkins (Stormville, N.Y.) capped the scoring 9:57 into the second half with her ninth goal of the season off a feed from Leyva.

Springfield junior goalkeeper Lindsay Pardue (Houston, Texas) did not have to make a save in the first period before giving way to second-half replacement senior Betsi Anderson (Wayland, Mass.) who recorded the only save needed for the Pride.

Endicott College finishes the season with a record of 13-9.
