'U.S. NEWS' RANKS SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE IN TOP TIER IN NEW 2007 'AMERICA'S BEST COLLEGES' ISSUE Springfield College is ranked once again in the top tier in its category in the "U.S.News & World Report" 2007 edition of "America's Best Colleges." Read more.
LOCAL YOUTH LEARN LEADERSHIP SKILLS AT COLLEGE Springfield, Mass., youngsters identified by area schools and community organizations for their potential to become community leaders were at Springfield College on scholarships to the Springfield Leaders of Tomorrow Program this summer. The program is a collaboration between the College, the 21st Century Learning Communities, the City of Springfield, and others. Read more.
MOVING TOWARD WELLNESS Erland Construction has begun site preparation for the new 28,000-square-foot Wellness Center, which will include cardio and weight training space, a climbing wall, four multipurpose teaching/activity spaces, and a faculty office complex. Also underway is construction of the new 88,000 square foot Field House, which will house a six-lane running track, four multipurpose courts with a customizable netting system, locker rooms, strength and conditioning facilities, storage, concessions, and restrooms. Both buildings, which are being funded by "Leadership for the 21st Century: The Campaign for Springfield College," are slated for completion in the fall of 2008. Watch our growth via our PRIDE Cams.
AMERICORPS RECRUITING GRADUATE STUDENTS Entering its eleventh year at Springfield College, the AmeriCorps Program will enroll up to 100 graduate students across academic disciplines to serve 900 hours in the city of Springfield this academic year. Read more.
SC ALERT Springfield College has contracted with e2Campus to provide SC Alert, a state-of-the-art system that sends emergency notifications and important messages from the College to the personal communications devices of faculty, staff, and student subscribers. Read more.

SHARPE NAMED 2007 PRESEASON FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN BY D3FOOTBALL.COM Senior quarterback Chris Sharpe has been named 2007 Preseason First Team All-American by D3football.com. A Derry, N. H., native and Pinkerton Academy graduate, Sharpe put up some highly impressive numbers during the 2006 season as quarterback and captain of the Pride, which finished 10-2, won the Empire 8 Conference co-championship, and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. PETER FERRARO '07 NAMED HEAD MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY COACH Peter Ferraro '07 has been appointed head men's cross country coach at Springfield College for the 2007-08 academic year, Director of Athletics Cathie Schweitzer announced. Ferraro replaced former head coach James Larson. Read more.
THREE NAMED ECAC ALL-STARS FOR SPRING 2007 Three Springfield College athletes were recently named ECAC Division III New England All-Stars for their outstanding performances during the past spring season. Read more.
KINCADE, LAMPROS NAMED IWLCA ALL-ACADEMIC Julia Kincade and Rachel Lampros of Springfield College have been named to the 2007 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association Academic Honor Roll. Read more.
