Application Procedure

Since need-based aid serves as a supplement to family resources, the financial aid application process is designed to develop an assessment of those resources. All applicants for admission are sent detailed instructions on the financial aid application process.

All 2008-2009 financial aid applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the required form for all federal and state aid programs. On the FAFSA, indicate the Springfield College code number 002211. To apply for Springfield College grant and/or scholarship assistance, the Springfield College Financial Aid Application also should be completed.

Both applications are available online.

FAFSA:

http://www.fafsa.ed.gov

Springfield College:

All incoming student applications will be verified using parent and student tax returns. Financial aid awards are tentative until the College receives and verifies the FAFSA information with the federal tax returns. The student is encouraged to complete both application procedures two to four weeks in advance of the financial aid priority filing date. To receive priority consideration for financial assistance, Springfield College must receive the SC financial aid application and the FAFSA information by the following dates:

Early Decision Candidates:

January 28, 2008

First-Year Students:

March 17, 2008

Transfer Students:

May 1, 2008

An application for financial aid has no effect on the admission decision. Action is taken on the student’s financial aid application after the admission decision. Written notification is sent in the same sequence. Do not wait to receive an admission decision before applying for financial assistance. For more admission information click here.
