General Information
Commencement Rehearsal: There will not be a rehearsal for Commencement. Graduates will be given instructions during the pre-ceremony line-up on the morning of their Commencement ceremony.Professional Conduct and Attire: The Commencement Ceremony is a formal academic event. Graduates are expected to dress and behave in a professional manner during the ceremonies. The College reserves the right to exclude from the ceremony any prospective graduate who does not meet acceptable standards of dress or conduct.
Safety Issues: Graduates should be aware that the Commencement Ceremonies will require participants to climb stairs to the stage while wearing academic regalia. In order to ensure their safety, candidates for degrees should choose sensible footwear for the ceremony. High heels, flip-flops, and other unstable shoes are not a good choice for this event.
Pictures: A professional photographer will take two photos of
each graduate during the ceremony. You will receive a proof of
each photo within five to seven days following the ceremony.
You may place orders or obtain answers to questions at
www.gradimages.com or 800-424-3686. You are welcome to
take pictures before and after the ceremony. Only professional
photographers will be allowed in front of the stage on Naismith
Green and on the floor at the MassMutual Center.
Honor Cords: Undergraduate degree candidates who qualify to graduate with honors will be given their honor cords when they check in for assembly before the Commencement Ceremony. Undergraduate students whose final cumulative grade point average (GPA) is 3.5 or above and who have completed at least forty-five graded semester hours (exclusive of pass/fail grades) at Springfield College are awarded their degrees with honor according to the following criteria:
- Summa Cum Laude – 3.900-4.000
