As a Springfield College student-athlete—or as one of our ardent supporters—you helped establish the pride, honor, and tradition that define our current program and set it apart from others. We remain dedicated to the athletic and academic excellence established by student-athletes and supporters like you, and today, more than ever, we rely on your support for our continued development. We need your spirit and your time as well as your financial support. With a strong alumni team, a Springfield College athletic program of which we will continue to be proud is possible.
Our Celebration of 50 Years of Women’s Varsity Athletics this year has brought attention to our tremendous female athletes—past and present—and brought them together with coaches, fans, and supporters. Homecoming activities included the “Symposium on Girls and Women in Sport,” during which we shared the wisdom, insights, and history of many, including the three coaches of the inaugural varsity teams, Diane Potter, Jone Bush, and Martha Van Allen.
As part of the 50th celebration, President Mary-Beth Cooper and her family have presented a $10,000 challenge that calls on former female student-athletes and their families to financially support their teams. Teams that have the highest percentage of alumni and family support will reap the benefits of that challenge. I hope you will join us and help pave the way for future athletes.
Thank you for your continued support of the Pride. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming game.
