J. Patrick Decoteau, Ph.D., professor of rehabilitation and disability studies, represented the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association as its president-elect at a summit hosted by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counseling in Chicago. Issues discussed at the meeting included the changing landscape of the rehabilitation counseling field and an action plan focused on legislative advocacy, professional identity, and development of a research agenda.
American Medical Association Visits Campus
Hosted by the School of Health Sciences and Rehabilitation Studies, AMA President-Elect Jeremy Lazarus, MD, presented "Affordable Care Act: Where Are We Now?" at a luncheon in the Richard B. Flynn Campus Union on Wednesday. Check out photos from the luncheon.
David Miller Received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Department of Psychology at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey
David J. Miller PT, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Rehabilitation Studies, recently received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Department of Psychology at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Dr. Jessica Fleck, Associate Professor in the Psychology Department and chair of the Selection Committee, presented the award to Dr. Miller (Stockton ’74) in conjunction with a Psi Chi (International Psychology Honor Society) Research Conference in April, in recognition of “professional and service achievements”. The award, first given in 1998, is designed to honor former students of Stockton’s Psychology Department for their achievements, bridge the gap between today's students and yesterday's, and demonstrate to current students the variety of career paths and activities of their successful graduates.
J. Patrick Decoteau was elected to a second term on the International Association of Rehabilitation Professional’s Case Management Section Board of Directors
J. Patrick Decoteau, professor of rehabilitation & disability studies, was recently elected a second term to the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals’ (IARP) Case Management Section Board of Directors. The Case Management Section provides professional development, continuing education, research, and networking for vocational and medical case managers who coordinate care for individuals with disabilities. IARP is the leading professional association of choice by rehabilitation professionals and associates with interest in the private sector rehabilitation.
