Stephen Posner, PhD, is an associate professor and mead men’s gymnastics coach at Springfield College. He is the 2011 USA Gymnastics National Collegiate Coach of the Year, and was the NCAA Eastern Regional Coach of the Year in 2009, 2008 and 2002. He also was awarded the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Honor Coach Award for his longstanding contributions to the sport of gymnastics in 2007. He has coached and taught at Springfield College in both the Physical Education Department, and the Department of Sport Management and Recreation for the past 30 years. He currently teaches classes in event management, marketing and public relations, leadership, and internship preparation and supervision within the Department of Sport Management and Recreation. His current research interest is sport coaching leadership with an emphasis on values that should be taught through active sport participation. He is author of the Coaching Leadership Handbook-Instilling Values and Character through Sport (2008) published by Stipes. The revised second edition of this book will be available this summer.
