Working Teachers Program
Graduate study in the Education Department is designed to enable working teachers in the greater Springfield area to enhance their teaching and leadership skills in order to better serve all learners in Pre K - 12 schools. Springfield College is committed to developing highly effective teachers through an innovative residency initial licensure program that prepares and supports teachers by nurturing and training them while they are teaching. Teachers enrolled in this program may also choose, for additional credits, to pursue a Master’s of Education (M.Ed.) or C.A.G.S. (available in certain programs only.) Completed applications are due no later than May 16, but applicants are encouraged to apply by April 15 if they wish to begin the program in the summer of 2014.
In addition to our initial licensure residency program, the department also offers graduate level professional development courses for teachers, as well as a non-licensure Master’s of Education program.
