Springfield College will celebrate Commencement Weekend on May 18-19, 2013 with the following events:
Graduate CommencementSaturday, May 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.
Graduate commencement exercises will be held on Naismith Green; Degrees awarded will include all master's degrees, certificates of advanced instruction, and doctoral degrees.
Baccalaureate CeremonySaturday, May 18, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.
Baccalaureate ceremony exercises will be held on Naismith Green for bachelor's degree graduates and their families.
Undergraduate CommencementSunday, May 19, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.
Undergraduate commencement exercises will be held at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA.
Degrees are conferred three times each year, in May, August and December. Degrees are recognized at the annual commencement ceremony following the spring semester. Students who complete degree requirements during the prior December or are scheduled to complete in the spring semester are eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony.
Degrees are conferred once each year at the annual commencement ceremony following spring semester. Students who complete degree requirements during the spring semester or by the previous August or December are eligible to participate in the annual commencement ceremony.
Undergraduate degree candidates who have completed all graduation requirements by the end of the spring term and who qualify to graduate with honors will be given their honor cords when they check in for assembly before the Commencement Ceremony. Undergraduate students whose final cumulative grade point average (GPA) is 3.5 or above and who have completed at least forty-five graded semester hours (exclusive of pass/fail grades) at Springfield College are awarded their degrees with honor according to the following criteria:
- Summa Cum Laude – 3.900-4.000
- Magna Cum Laude – 3.700-3.899
- Cum Laude – 3.500-3.699
The student’s qualifying GPA shall be determined at the close of the spring semester for the May Commencement Ceremony. Academic honors will be noted on diplomas and transcripts.
